Invitro Aquarium Plants

We stock a wide range of invitro aquarium plants, grown in sterile tissue culture so they arrive completely free of pests, algae and snail eggs, ideal if you keep shrimp or want to start a tank clean. Each pot usually gives you 6 to 8 plants or portions to separate and plant out. They settle in quickly once planted and cover everything from easy beginner species to more demanding aquascaping picks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Invitro plants are grown in sterile gel rather than soil or rockwool, so there's no substrate to rinse off and no risk of pests or algae hitching a ride into your tank. Potted plants are grown conventionally and can establish a little faster once planted, but need a quick rinse first.

Rinse the gel off gently under lukewarm water, then separate the portions by hand before planting. Handle the roots carefully, they're often finer than potted plants until established.

Yes, that's one of the main reasons people choose them. Because they're grown in sterile culture, there's no risk of pesticide residue, snails or parasites that could harm shrimp.

Not necessarily. Most of the species we stock will grow without CO2 or added fertiliser, though extra nutrients and good lighting will help them establish faster and colour up better.
