Glossostigma elatinoides – Invitro Aquarium Plant (Tropica)

Glossostigma elatinoides, or "Glosso", is a true carpeting plant that spreads via lateral runners rather than growing upward, forming a dense, bright green lawn across the substrate. It's a favourite for open, professional-style aquascapes where a low, uniform foreground is the goal.

Glosso is one of the more demanding invitro plants: it needs strong lighting and CO2 injection to carpet flat rather than reaching for the light, along with soft, slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 5.0-7.5) at 22-26°C. Regular trimming every few weeks keeps the mat thick and stops the lower leaves being shaded out.

Care Instructions

• Rinse and separate the in-vitro tissue culture into small portions before planting

• Plant individual portions a few centimetres apart in fine substrate

• Trim regularly to maintain a compact carpet and prevent over-shading
