We have been keeping, caring for and selling Betta fish for over 40 years. We do not just stock them — we are genuinely passionate about them. Every Male Betta we sell has been quarantined, observed, wormed on arrival, and assessed for colour, behaviour and feeding before we are satisfied it is ready for sale.
Fresh deliveries arrive almost every week, so our stock is dynamic and always evolving. We typically have over 30 unique Male Bettas in store at any one time, spanning multiple tail types, colour variants and price points — from excellent everyday stock through to premium hand-selected specimens for serious collectors and breeders.

We stock one of the most comprehensive ranges of Betta tail types in the Midlands — including Halfmoon, Rosetail, Full Moon, Super Delta, Crowntail, King Crowntail, Spadetail, Twin Tail, Veiltail, Combtail, Plakat, Dumbo, Giant Betta and Wild Type. Not all varieties are available at all times, but between us we have kept, sold and fallen in love with pretty much all of them.

Getting the tank right is the single most important thing you can do for your Betta. Here is our honest advice:
All Betta tanks must be heated. Bettas are tropical fish from South East Asia and require a stable temperature of around 24–28°C. This is non-negotiable.
For a standard big-tailed Male Betta (Halfmoon, Crowntail, Veiltail etc.), we consider 25–30 litres the minimum. At this size, the only suitable tankmates would be some small cleaning fish or occasionally shrimp. If you want to keep your Betta with other fish, we recommend 40 litres or more.
Plakat Bettas are different. These are active, fast-moving fish that need more swimming space than their long-finned cousins. We would not recommend going below 50–60 litres for a Plakat, and they will do well in tanks up to 100 litres. A Plakat in a tank that is too small will show it — they can become stressed and restless without enough room to move.
Our view on Betta bowls and vases: We do not recommend them. Full stop. Bettas deserve a properly heated, filtered, adequately sized tank — not a decorative vessel. If you want to give your Betta the best life possible, a proper aquarium is the only way to do it.

Our preference is always real plants and natural decoration. A planted tank not only looks more beautiful — it provides genuine benefits for water quality and gives your Betta places to explore, rest and feel secure.
That said, we do stock a range of Betta-safe artificial plants and decorations — carefully selected to ensure nothing has sharp edges or rough surfaces that could damage delicate fins. If you are not yet ready for live plants, our artificial range is a safe and attractive option.
One thing to watch: avoid any decoration with sharp points or rough textures. Betta fins tear easily and a damaged fin is both stressful for the fish and a potential site for infection.

In the wild, Bettas live in slow-moving waters rich in leaf litter and seed pods. We stock one of the largest ranges of aquatic botanicals in the Midlands to help you recreate this environment at home. Leaves, pods and cones release tannins that create a natural blackwater effect — and pods make brilliant caves and resting spots that Bettas love.
Important: botanicals affect water chemistry, so always introduce gradually and test regularly.
Bettas are carnivores and need a protein-based diet — plant-based foods are a no.
Choose a quality floating or slow-sinking Betta pellet for daily feeding, and supplement with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia several times a week. Bloodworm is high in fat and low in fibre — treat it as an occasional treat rather than a staple. We also recommend one fasting day per week to support healthy digestion and prevent bloating.

1. Rushing the setup — the most common mistake in fishkeeping generally. Cycle your tank properly before adding fish. A new, uncycled tank can be harmful or fatal. Take your time and do it right.
2. Wrong decoration — Betta fins are delicate. Avoid anything with sharp edges, rough textures or points. If it snags your tights, it will damage your Betta's fins. Stick to smooth, natural decoration or our curated range of Betta-safe artificial decor.
3. Not testing the water — water quality issues are often invisible until it is too late. Regular testing is essential, especially with a new tank, after adding botanicals, or after medication. Shop water test kits →
4. Not enough water changes — even with good filtration, regular partial water changes are essential to maintain water quality and keep your Betta healthy. Shop water treatments →
5. Incorrect feeding — too much, too often, the wrong food. Follow our feeding guide above. One fasting day a week. No plant-based food. Go easy on the bloodworm.

Female Bettas are fascinating fish, but they come with a word of honest caution: they have very strong characters and can be surprisingly feisty. Sorority tanks (keeping multiple females together) can work beautifully, but they require careful planning, the right tank size, the right group size, and close monitoring — especially in the early weeks.
If you are thinking about a sorority setup, please come and talk to us first. We are very happy to advise, but we will always give you the honest picture rather than just selling you the fish. Getting this right makes all the difference.
When our Bettas arrive, they go immediately into carefully selected, safe quarantine tanks — either alone or with calm, peaceful, well-settled fish. We do not want new arrivals stressed, disturbed or fin-nipped before they have even had a chance to settle.
Every Male Betta is wormed on arrival as standard. During the quarantine period of 5–7 days, we monitor each fish closely for colour intensity, behaviour and feeding response. We will not sell any Betta we are not completely happy with.
