Our tropical aquarium snails are a colourful, low maintenance addition to any freshwater tank, from the striking patterns of Zebra and Pagoda snails to the algae grazing Assassin and Ramshorn varieties. All our tropical snails are compatible with a planted, tropical freshwater setup, though it's worth checking individual species' care needs before adding them to your tank, some, like Assassin snails, will actively hunt other snails rather than live peacefully alongside them. Frequently Asked Questions

Most of the snails we stock, including Ramshorn, Rabbit and Nerite-type species, are algae and detritus grazers rather than plant eaters, so they're generally safe for a planted tank. Assassin snails are predatory and will eat other snails rather than plants.

Most species live happily together, but Assassin snails are the exception, they'll hunt and eat smaller snails, so they're best used if you're trying to control an existing snail population rather than mixed in with ones you want to keep.

Many tropical snails, particularly Ramshorn and Pond-type species, can breed quickly given the right conditions. If you'd rather keep numbers in check, an Assassin snail or two will help control this naturally.

Most graze on algae, biofilm and leftover food in the tank, though larger species like Rabbit snails also benefit from supplementary vegetable-based foods or algae wafers.
