Selected Corbo wood No.3

Corbo Root is a dense, dark brown root wood valued in aquascaping for its natural, gnarled shapes and hollows. It's often chosen as a striking centrepiece or for the hiding spots and grazing surfaces it offers fish, shrimp and snails.

Approx 20cm high, approx 20cm wide.

Like all natural wood, Corbo Root releases tannins that tint the water a tea brown colour. This is completely natural and won't harm your fish, though some keepers prefer clearer water. Soaking the wood before adding it to the tank helps it sink and lets some tannins disperse, though every piece behaves differently. Some will clear within a few days, others release tannins indefinitely. If you'd rather keep the water clear, tannin removing products are available, or regular water changes with carbon or Purigen filtration will help.

As with any natural material, wood can affect water chemistry as well as colour. Regular water testing is essential when keeping fish, and it's worth testing more closely for the first few weeks after adding new wood or botanicals to your tank.

Corbo Root's shapes and hollows make it well suited to attaching plants such as Java Fern and Anubias, and its crevices give catfish, shrimp and snails somewhere to graze and shelter.
