Micranthemum tweediei 'Monte Carlo' – Invitro Aquarium Plant
Micranthemum tweediei 'Monte Carlo' is one of the most popular carpeting plants in the hobby, valued for its small, rounded, bright green leaves and low, creeping growth habit. Often used as an easier alternative to Hemianthus callitrichoides (HC), it spreads to form a dense, cushion-like carpet that works beautifully in Iwagumi and nature-style layouts. Supplied in a 100% sterile invitro pot by Tropica, this plant is free from algae, pests, and snails, making it a safe choice for shrimp and delicate aquariums.
Monte Carlo spreads via runners rather than rooting deep into the substrate, gradually filling in gaps to create a continuous mat. Medium to high lighting alongside CO2 encourages the densest, fastest carpeting; without CO2 it will still grow, just more slowly and less compactly. Some initial melt can occur as the plant adjusts from invitro to submerged growth, but this is temporary and followed by healthy new growth once settled.
