Plants by Placement

Keeping a healthy tank comes down to the right aquarium maintenance equipment — filtration that keeps water clear, aeration that keeps oxygen levels stable, and testing kits that tell you what's really going on before problems show. This collection covers everything you need to maintain water quality and equipment condition, from internal and external filters to air pumps, thermometers, and water treatments. Whether you're setting up a maintenance routine for the first time or replacing worn-out kit, you'll find trusted brands like Oase, Superfish, and NT Labs stocked here.

Why Maintenance Matters

Regular maintenance is what separates a thriving aquarium from one that's constantly fighting cloudy water or stressed fish. A good filter removes waste and keeps beneficial bacteria colonies alive, while an air pump adds surface agitation and oxygen exchange — especially important in warmer months or heavily stocked tanks. Water test kits and digital meters let you catch ammonia, nitrite, or pH swings early, before they affect your fish, and water treatments help condition tap water or boost biological filtration after a water change. If you're not sure what your setup needs, our team can help you put together a maintenance routine suited to your tank size and stocking level.

FAqs Systems & maintenance

We recommend a minimum 25% water change weekly. If you see signs of ammonia or nitrite, larger and more frequent water changes may be needed.

Depends on filter type, but most internal and external filters benefit from a rinse in old tank water every 2–4 weeks — never tap water, as chlorine kills the beneficial bacteria.

Not always, but it helps. Extra surface agitation improves oxygen exchange, particularly useful in densely stocked or warm tanks.

Weekly for established tanks, and daily during the first few weeks of a new setup (cycling) or after any big change.

Conditioners neutralise chlorine/chloramine in tap water; treatments cover a wider range, including bacterial boosters and problem-specific fixes (cloudy water, algae, etc.).
