Riccia fluitans (Crystalwort) – Invitro Aquarium Plant
Riccia fluitans, commonly known as Crystalwort, is a branching, moss-like plant valued for its bright green colour and delicate, textured appearance. It has no true roots, so it can either be left to float freely at the surface or tied to hardscape such as wood, rock, or mesh to create a lush green carpet effect — a popular technique in nature-style and Iwagumi aquascapes. Supplied in a 100% sterile invitro pot by Aquafleur, this plant is free from algae, pests, and snails, making it a safe choice for shrimp and delicate aquariums.
Under good lighting, Riccia is well known for the fine strings of oxygen bubbles it produces, adding movement and sparkle to the aquascape. When tied down, it benefits from regular trimming and reshaping, as the centre of a dense mat can die back if light doesn't reach it; separating and re-tying sections keeps growth healthy and full.
