Echinodorus 'Rosé' – Potted Tropica
A beautiful rosette sword plant with a soft pink and red-brown colouring. New underwater leaves emerge pink, and the young leaves carry red-brown spots, which makes it a lovely centrepiece plant.
Echinodorus 'Rosé' is a cultivar, a hybrid between Echinodorus horemanii 'Red' and Echinodorus horizontalis, first produced in 1986 by Hans Barth in Dessau, Germany. It has a medium growth rate and forms a rosette 15 to 25 cm wide, reaching 25 to 40 cm tall, so it suits the midground to background of medium and larger tanks.
It is undemanding and a good choice for beginners, with low light and low CO2 requirements. A nutritious substrate will promote growth, and root tabs are a useful addition.
Before planting, remove the plant from its pot and gently rinse away any growing medium. Trim any damaged or very long roots, and plant it so the crown sits just above the substrate. Give it space, as the rosette will spread as it matures.
Format: Tropica potted Echinodorus 'Rosé', one plant.
