Echinodorus purpurea – Potted Aquafleur

A robust sword plant with broad leaves in rich green and deep red-purple tones, and a bold centrepiece for the midground or background of a planted aquarium. It is a hardy plant that suits beginners and experienced aquarists alike.

Like other sword plants, it is a heavy root feeder, so a nutrient-rich substrate and root tabs will help it along.

Before planting, remove the plant from its pot and gently rinse away any growing medium. Trim any damaged or very long roots, and remove any foam or mesh holding the roots together. Plant it so the crown sits just above the substrate. You can often split potted plants into two or three smaller plants to spread around your aquascape.
