Blyxa japonica – Invitro Aquarium Plant

Blyxa japonica is a bushy, grass-like foreground to midground plant that forms neat rosettes of narrow, bright green leaves, taking on a reddish tint under stronger light. It's a popular choice for aquascapers wanting texture and structure without the sprawl of a true carpeting plant.

This one is a bit more demanding than many invitro plants: it needs good lighting, CO2 injection, and regular fertilising with nitrate, phosphate, potassium and micronutrients to grow well and stay compact. Without CO2, growth slows considerably and the plant tends to turn leggy rather than bushy. It does best at 23-26°C and a slightly acidic to neutral pH of 5.5-7.0.
