Anubias barteri var. nana – Potted Tropica
A small, hardy and very popular plant that thrives in almost any aquarium, including shady corners where other plants struggle. Anubias barteri var. nana comes from Cameroon and reaches about 5 to 10 cm tall, with a creeping rhizome 10 to 15 cm long or more. It is easy to keep and suits beginners.
Growth is slow, and the leaves last for several years. It is not eaten by herbivorous fish, and it often flowers under water. Because the leaves last so long, slow-growing algae can settle on them if the light is too strong, so low to moderate light suits it best.
Anubias does best attached to a stone or a piece of wood rather than planted in the substrate. Tie it on with fishing line or thread until it grips, or glue it in place. If you do plant it in the substrate, never bury the rhizome, as it can rot.
Format: Tropica potted Anubias barteri var. nana, one plant.
