The Coconut Hut is a natural coconut shell shelter with an entrance hole, giving shrimp, fry and small fish somewhere secure to hide, rest and escape from larger tankmates. It's supplied loose, without plants, so you can use it as a plain hide or turn it into a planted feature.
Being a natural coconut shell, it adds a natural look to the aquarium. The textured surface also grows a fine biofilm for shrimp and snails to graze on, and makes it easy to attach mosses and epiphytes such as Anubias, Java fern or Bucephalandra.
Before adding to your aquarium, rinse well. If it floats at first, soak or boil it for a while so it waterlogs and sinks.
As a natural product, size, shape and entrance size will vary from shell to shell. Adding natural materials like coconut shell to your aquarium can affect water parameters and may release mild tannins into the water, so we recommend regular water testing when using natural decor.
Format: Coconut Hut, loose natural coconut shell shelter, ideal for shrimp, fry and small fish, and for attaching mosses or epiphytes.
