Why We Started This Business

We established this business 1987. The Aquatics business has grown and changed dramatically over the last 30 years. It was originally a hobby which expanded in to a full time business, incorporating the knowledge of our whole family. We have a wealth of knowledge and aim to help all of our customers as much as we can.
We want shopping at Byrkley Aquatics to be an experience the whole family can enjoy.

2020/2021 our business like many others, had to work through some difficult times. We made lots of changes to improve our store for you our customers. New stock aquariums, painting, new layout, new tills etc. Things are still being worked on but we are getting there. We hope that you will understand when you visit.

We are still a family business and very much need the support of our local community.

Fast forward to September 2023, and I have taken over the family business. My name is Claire, I am Herbert and Maureen's eldest daughter.

I have lots of plans and am already making a few changes, hopefully you will love things as much as we do.

Dad has fully retired but his opinion is still very important to me. Mum continues to work in the shop part time at the moment, but is enjoying a well earned break. Again she me offers lots of help, support and advice.

My sister Dawn is also still working part time, and is a really great help. Dawn is full of ideas and enthusiasm. When we work together the shop is likely to change in a big way, we always achieve lots.

This truely is a family business, I could not do this without my other colleagues , Louise, Casey and Edwin.

Based within Byrkley Garden Centre

Byrkley Aquatics is based within the well established garden centre. There are lots of things to see and do if you are looking for a trip out.

There are lots of indoor and outdoor plants and everything you need to care for them. As well as catering for all of your gardening needs, Byrkley Garden Centre has a selection of other businesses trading from within. There are clothing shops, Craft shop, jewellery, gifts. There is a small play area as well as farm animals too.

If you are looking for somewhere to have lunch or just coffee and a cake the coffee shop has a great selection of options.
